‘Britain Owes Palestine’: Legal Petition Demands Apology from UK Government

A group of Palestinians has submitted a legal petition demanding the UK takes responsibility for “its serial international law violations” including war crimes committed during the British occupation of Palestine between 1917 and 1948.

In a press statement, the Britain Owes Palestine campaign said that a 400-page legal document, drafted by a team of prominent lawyers and regional experts was submitted to the UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, Defence Secretary John Healey and Attorney General Richard Hermer on Sunday.

The petition records “incontrovertible evidence” that Britain breached international law standards applicable at the time, the statement noted.
